DRIED PRODUCT OF GELLED HEMOGLOBIN, PREPARATION THEREOF, AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil absorber for an oil which can rapidly recover even a large amt. of an oil, such as petroleum, at a low cost without destructing an ecosystem, and to provide a process for preparing the same and a method for recovering an oil using the absorber. SOLUTION: An absorber for an oil is obtd. from a dried product of hemoglobin which has been gelled by glutaraldehyde. In preparing a dried product of gelled hemoglobin, a glutaraldehyde soln. is added to a final concn. of 1 to 2% to cause gelation to the aq. hemoglobin soln., and the gelled product is then dried. In the recovery of an oil, a dried product of gelled hemoglobin is incorporated into petroleum, animal and vegetable oil or the like to absorb the oil, and the swollen, gelled, dried product of hemoglobin is recovered.
