Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhibit nonmagnetic property in a magnetic field of a specific magnet and be usable in the magnetic field of an MRI diagnosis unit by being composed of a type 316 stainless steel, containing a narrow and long part having a distal piercing tip, a proximal suture fitting end part, and specifying mechanical properties such as the elasticity after work hardening and proof stress. SOLUTION: A surgical needle 5 having a narrow and long trunk part 10, a distal piercing tip 20, and a proximal suture fitting end part 30 is composed of a type 316 stainless steel, work hardened so as to have the elasticity, at least 25×106 pond/inch , the maximum tensile strength, at least, 250,000 pond/ inch , the proof stress, at least, 200,000 pond/inch , and the bending strength approximately 7.5μ10 inch-pond or approximately 8.8 inch-pond, has a sufficient toughness for being bent from the stationary shape to an arc of 90 deg., to 90 deg. in the inverse direction, and to the stationary state again, and is nonmagnetic in a magnetic field of a 1.5 tesla magnet.
