CLAMPING DEVICE FOR TIMBER WORKING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an operating time for working a large volume of timber through provision of a clamping device comprising extendable rotary clamp rollers and rollers located on a side opposite to the rotary rollers relative to the width direction of a driven conveyor to hold timber that is being transferred in cooperation with the rotary clamp rollers. SOLUTION: Rotatable presser free rollers 12 having a rotating shaft core provided in a perpendicular direction are provided at positions opposite to rotary clamp rollers 11 relative to a width direction of a driven roller conveyor 2 so that they confront each other so as to hold therebetween timber that is being transferred on the driven roller conveyor 2. A sensor 5 detects timber A that is being transferred pass through a plurality of rotary clamp rollers 11 provided on one side of the driven roller conveyor 2 and it moves a material stopper 3 so as to be brought into contact with the timber A that is being transferred to thereby stop the transfer. Then, the rotary clamp rollers 11 are pressed against the timber A by means of an air cylinder 10 so as to hold the timber A together with the presser free rollers 12, and cutting or cutting work is appropriately performed by means of a cutter 4, whereby time needed to open and/or close the clamp can be reduced, this leading to the reduction of operating time.
