Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a long time display of a static image on a fluorescent screen of a television and to prevent the screen from burning by proving a start/stop function of plotting a screen saver depending on variations in a display image. SOLUTION: In a plotting of a display image, a static image, etc., of a digitally-processed display image is encoded into NTSC mode for being plotted. When the display image is at a standstill for a certain period of time, the display image is saved in RAM 13, and the display image data of a screen saver are read from ROM 12 and are encoded into NTSC mode for plotting the screen saver. Then, it is monitored whether or not any other image than the screen saver is requested for plotting, and if not, the screen saver is continued to be plotted, and if requested, the plotting of the screen saver is interrupted. After the plotting of the screen saver has been interrupted, the display image saved in RAM 13 is read and plotted. When the display image is varying, plotting is continued as it is.
