Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To faithfully and quickly transmit an accurate image by preparing a 3rd encoding mode for dividing a digital picture signal consisting of the 1st number of pixels per frame into plural blocks, encoding each block by a 2nd encoding mode and transmitting the encoded block through a communication line. SOLUTION: A camera image is inputted to a pixel CODEC part image encoding circuit and inputted to a frame memory as an image consisting of the 1st number of pixels. In a transmission mode A, the image signal of the 1st number of pixels is encoded and the picture data are transferred and decoded by the receiving side to reproduce the image of the 1st number of pixels. In a transmission mode B, the picture signal of the 1st number of pixels is encoded four times the pixel size of the mode A and the encoded picture data are transferred and decoded on the receiving side to reproduce an image consisting of the 2nd number of pixels. In a transmission mode C, a picture is vertically and horizontal divided into four parts, respective divided parts are sequentially encoded by the transmission mode B and decoded and then one still picture is reproduced by the transmission of four continuous picture signals.
