DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING WIDTH IN CONTINUOUS ROLLING MILL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for controlling width in a continuous rolling mill for improving the accuracy of width by controlling the variation of width due to the variation of tension between stands with the downstream vertical rolling mill. SOLUTION: The tension (stress) of a rolled stock 1 is detected with a looper which is provided between an i-th stand 200 and an (i+1)th stand 300 and, in the case the detected value is abnormal, influence which is exerted on the width of the rolled stock is determined by a table in which the relation between the tension and the width is stored or the variation of width based on the variation of tension is determined by a prescribed formula or the like and they are stored in a width correction storage device 244 and, when the abnormal tension area of the rolled stock 1 reaches a vertical rolling mill 220 which is provided on the downstream side of the (i+1)th stand 300, by executing edge rolling using the stored width correction, the accuracy of width of the rolled stock 1 is improved.
