DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ADDRESS BOOK MANAGEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to retrieve a zip code from an inputted address and check the inputted address and the zip code by making possible a dictionary retrieval which changing the reading of characters even when address information is not completely matched with the contents of the dictionary. SOLUTION: This management device has a zip code dictionary 28 for storing two different sorts of zip codes having the previously determined numbers of digits and address information corresponding to the zip codes and a reading changeable data table 29 for correspondingly registering characters of which reading can be changed as an address. A zip code retrieval processing part 24 refers to the table 29 and judges whether a character whose reading can be changed exists in the address information of address book data or not. When a reading changeable character exists as the result of judgment, the table 29 derives address information obtained by substituting a prescribed character for the reading changeable character, and at the time of retrieving the dictionary 28 based on the address book data, address data including the derived address information are retrieved.
