Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having remarkable pest- controlling activities and useful as agricultural and horticultural pest-controlling agents such as a microbicide, an insecticide and a herbicide. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I (R , R are each H, a 1-4C alkyl; R is a 1-4C alkyl; X is oxygen atom, sulfur atom), e.g. 2-n-propylamino-6-n- propyl-4H-1,3,2-benzodioxaphosphroin 2-sulfide. The compound is obtained by reacting a phosphorus chloride derivative of formula II with a 2- hydroxybenzylalcohol compound of formula III in the presence of a base (preferably an organic base such as triethylamine) in a solvent and subsequently reacting the obtained 2-chloro-1,3,2-benzodioxaphosphorin derivative with an amine compound of the formula: R -NH2 in the presence of a base in a solvent. The reaction temperature is preferably 10-40 deg.C. The reaction is usually carried out for 1-24hr. The compound of formula III is obtained from e.g. a 4- alkylphenol through a 5-alkyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde.
