Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photoalignable polymer excellent in heat stability and pretilt angle characteristics by using a self-photosensitive polyimide having a benzophenone component and a reactive hydrogen component and to obtain a liquid crystal display element having an alignment film prepared not by a rubbing method. SOLUTION: A self-photosensitive polyimide improved in the thermal stability of photoalignment is obtained by simultaneously introducing a benzophenone component and a reactive hydrogen component into a heat-resistant polymer. This polyimide is represented by formula I (wherein R1 is formula II; A and B are each an unsubstituted aromatic ring; Y is O, S, N or free from a bond of -Y-; and R2 is E-CH2 -F (wherein E and F are each a single bond, an aromatic ring, a 3-10C cycloalkyl or the like) and is desirably one represented by formula I (wherein R1 is formula III or the like; and R2 is formula IV or the like). A polyamic acid synthesized from an acid anhydride and a diamine compound is mixed with a solvent to from a photoalignable composition, and this composition is applied to a glass substrate and imidated to make an alignment film. |
