HEAD SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY AND DATA RECORDING DISK DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension assembly for supporting a slider by equipping a hinge-like compliance member for flexibly connecting a flexure including a bonding area with a chip end platform for supporting the end of a read/write element of the slider. SOLUTION: The flexure 250 is composed of a 1st layer 230, a 2nd layer 232 and a 3rd layer 234. The 1st layer 230 is extended over the length of the flexure 250, and is disposed in contiguity with the 1st surface of the 2nd layer 232. The 2nd layer 232 is overlapped with the 1st layer 230 from the far end 221 of the compliance member to the far end of the chip platform. The 3rd layer 234 is disposed in contiguity with the 2nd surface of the 2nd layer 232, so as to settle individual end pads, so that the 1st layer 230 is separated from the 3rd layer 234 by the 2nd layer 232, and also the 1st layer 230, the 2nd layer 232 and the 3rd layer 234 are all positioned in parallel planes respectively. The 1st layer 230 is a hard layer for imparting rigidity to the suspension assembly.
