PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a case of needing temporary stop of a following automobile for prevention of a rear-end collision by temporarily stopping transportation of the following automobile at the time when a rear end of a preceding automobile and a front end of the following automobile becomes shorter than a specified distance at the time when the preceding automobile retires. SOLUTION: In the case of detecting a preceding automobile A1 by a photoelectric switch 30 at the time of detecting a front end of a following automobile A2 by blocking a photoelectric switch 29, transportation of the following automobile A2 is continued until a front end of the following automobile A2 reaches a position S separated by a distance L in consideration of safety from a rear end position R of the preceding automobile A1 computed in accordance with length X from a rear wheel TR to a rear end. When the front end of the following automobile A2 reaches the transport target position S, in the case when the preceding automobile A1 is detected by the photoelectric switch 30, transportation of the following automobile A2 is temporarily stopped at the position S. Thereafter, when the preceding automobile A1 retires, a car washing device restarts transportation of the following automobile A2.
