DEODORIZING FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a deodorizing fiber excellent in durability and efficiency by allowing basic fiber to carry a metal complex in which a Schiff base of a specific structure is coordinated with a multivalent metal. SOLUTION: A metal complex, e.g. silver bis(4'-carboxysalicylaldehyde)-1,2- phenyldiimine obtained by coordinating a Schiff base expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are each carboxyl, sulfonic acid, H, phenyl, naphthyl or a 1-4C lower alkyl; R3 is a group expressed by formula II, formula III of formula IV; M is a coordinating metal) or formula V (R4 is carboxyl, sulfonic acid, H, phenyl, naphthyl or a 1-4C lower alkyl; R5 is a 1-13C lower alkyl or phenyl; M is a coordinating metal) with a multivalent metal salt in an amount of 0.01-5wt.% is carried on basic fiber consisting of natural fiber such as cotton or a synthetic fiber such as polyester to obtain the objective deodorizing fiber.
