CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY AND PLUG CONNECTOR USED THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and certainly perform engagement of a pair of connector halves. SOLUTION: A plug connector 1 has a first part housing 122 supporting a contact 11 and provided with displaceable restraint members 4 and 5 and a second part housing 121 provided with cams 8 and 9 and communicating with the first part housing via a spring member 3 displaceable in a fitted direction. A counterpart connector 2 includes a housing 22 and a counterpart contact 21 that the housing supports. At the beginning of fitting of both connectors, the first part housing is restrained with respect to the counterpart connector, abutting with the counterpart connector of the restraint member 4 of the plug connector. Next, while a spring member is compressed, the second part housing is approached to the first part housing and cam-acted by the restraint member, thereby the restraint member is displaced, abutting with the counterpart connector is released, the first part housing is extruded by resilience of the spring member, and a contact is brought into contact with the counterpart contact.
