Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and accurately prepare PBN crucible capable of suppressing convection of raw material melt therein and facilitating temperature distribution control therein. SOLUTION: In a thermally decomposable boron nitride crucible for retaining raw material melt, used in production of a compound semiconductor single crystal by LEC method, distribution is given to roughness of the outer surface of the crucible. In a thermally decomposable boron nitride crucible for retaining raw material melt used in production of a compound semiconductor single crystal by LEC method, materials different in light transmittance in 3700cm and 6500cm are combined.
