Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent lubricating characteristics and high recording density by introducing groups having a lower energy barrier of the bonding rotation angle than that of perfluoroalkyl chain into the perfluoroalkyl chains nearer to the film surface as a main chain. SOLUTION: In this magnetic recording medium, a lubricant film formed on the medium surface consists of a Langmuir-Blodgett film having perfluoroalkyl chains into which groups having a lower energy barrier for bonding rotation angle than that of the perfluoroalkyl chain are introduced nearer to the film surface. Especially, the lubricant film consists of a compd. expressed by formula. In the formula, Rf is a perfluoroalkyl chain having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, Rf is a perfluoroalkylene chain having 10 to 25 carbon atoms or semifluoroalkylene chain having total 10 to 25 carbon atoms and having a perfluoroalkylene part with >=5 carbon atoms adjacent to X0 , X0 is an alkyl compd. having ether bonds or an alkylene chain having 2 to 6 carbon atoms.
