Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of a valve system as much as possible by using a roller after avoiding the enlargement of a cam follower, the complicatedness of assembly work and the complication to form a passage, in a valve system for an internal combustion engine in which connection switching means equipped with a piston moved according to a change of hydraulic pressure in an hydraulic chamber, is arranged in a plurality of cam followers and a roller shaft supporting a roller brought into roll contact with a valve system cam is arranged in at least one of respective cam followers. SOLUTION: A cam follower out of the whole of cam followers 191 , 201 , whose application quantity is smallest when connection switching means 381 is in a connection releasing condition, is arranged as one end side cam follower 191 on one side along the arrangement direction of respective cam followers 191 , 201 , a communicating passage 481 by which an oil supply passage is opened into a hydraulic pressure chamber 431 , is formed in the one end side cam follower 191 , and a roller shaft 331 rotatively supporting a roller 281 , is mounted in the cam follower 201 except for the one end side cam follower 191 .
