Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment method capable of increasing the durability and acid resistance of the inner wall of a hollow cooling tower though capable of being inexpensively produced within a short period and capable of simplifying maintenance control and the hollow cooling tower used therein. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas treatment method cooling exhaust gas of 800-950 deg.C containing 500ppm or more of chlorinee and/or hydrochloric gas by using a hollow cooling tower, is provided with a process wherein austenite stainless steel 11 with Ni content of 12wt.% is used as the inner wall of the upper region 9 of the hollow cooling tower and a plurality of FRP layers 12 are applied as the inner wall of the lower region 10 of the hollow cooling tower, a process jetting water into the upper region 9 of the hollow cooling tower to cool the internal temp. of the upper region 9 to 200-300 deg.C and a process jetting water into the lower region 10 of the hollow cooling tower to cool the temp. of exhaust gas passing through the lower region 10 to 200 deg.C or lower.
