Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently exploit the performance of an objective lens regardless of the portion of a specimen or the orientation of the specimen by arranging a modulator in a freely rotative manner at a pupil position. SOLUTION: A modulator 1 is arranged between a third lens 14 and a forth lens 16. At the outer side of a housing 5, a cover member 6 is provided at the tip section of an objective lens and a rotating ring 4 is provided in the center section. The ring 4 is provided in a freely rotating manner in the circumferential direction against the housing 5 and the member 6. A pin 3 is provided on a supporting member 2 which holds the modulator 1. The tip section of the pin 3 is caught in a groove section 4a provided in the inner section of the ring 4. An opening is provided on an annular member 7 and the housing 5 so that the pin 3 moves in the circumferential direction. Thus, by rotating the ring 4, the member 2 and the modulator 1 are rotated in the housing 5. Moreover, the modulator 1 is arranged at the pupil position of the objective lens.
