Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aq. water absorption inhibitor compsn. having satisfactory water repellency by mixing alkylalkoxysilane and an alkali metallic silicate with water. SOLUTION: This water absorption inhibitor compsn. consists of alkylalkoxysilane, an alkali metallic silicate and 40-1,000 pts.wt. water. based on 100 pts.wt., in total, of the two components. The alkylalkoxysilane is, e.g. monoalkyltrialkoxysilane, dialkyldialkoxysilane or trialkylmonoalkoxysilane, preferably monoalkyltrialkoxysilane, especially preferably monomethyl- trimethoxysilane. The alkali metallic silicate is preferably lithium silicate, potassium silicate or sodium silicate.
