Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a power conversion device, reduce its weight, and improve its efficiency by reducing a switching loss even if a switching frequency is not decreased. SOLUTION: In a three-level power conversion device for converting DC to AC, for PWM control a dipolar modulation mode for outputting pulses alternately in positive and negative directions over one cycle of the output voltage of the power conversion device and a unipolar modulation mode for outputting pulses with the same polarity during the half cycle of an output voltage are used. A means 21 is provided for enabling the dipolar modulation mode when an operation mode is in power-running operation mode or when the output voltage rises and for enabling the dipolar modulation mode when the operation mode is in a regeneration operation mode or when the output voltage decreases.
