Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an effective knocking treatment method with no generation of damage and spatter of an electrode. SOLUTION: The frequency of high voltage pulse (60kv-100kv) applied between a high voltage side electrode 1 and a low voltage side electrode 2 of a cathode ray tube CRT is raised with decrease in discharge probability dependent on the proceeding of the knocking treatment. The frequency is several Hz in the initial stage of the treatment, but raised to tens to hundreds Hz in the final stage of the treatment. Average discharge energy during the knocking treatment is made uniform, and excess discharge can be avoided.
