Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dampening a plate without having mechanical action impairing printed quality by avoiding excess dampening of the plate. SOLUTION: In a method for dampening a plate for offset printing, an amount of dampening water to be supplied to the plate with a transfer roller is controlled by adjusting the number of rotations of one of the transfer rollers according to a rotary angle position of a groove 5.1 of a plate cylinder 5 supporting the plate 6. The number of rotations of at least one transfer roller 13 is varied periodically while the plate cylinder 5 makes one turn. This method can be used for an offset press using the dampening water.
