Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for varying wind direction of discharged air at a ratio of human body sensing time in respective areas partitioned in a room provided with the conditioner and a method for controlling wind direction of the conditioner. SOLUTION: A room provided with the air conditioner is partitioned into a plurality of areas. Human body sensors are provided in the partitioned areas. In this case, presences or absences of human bodies in the areas are sensed by the plurality of the sensors (S11 to S16). A time ratio of each area responsive to a human body present time is calculated, compared with first and second proportional constants S1, S2 (S19, S20). A driving range of a louver is varied according to the compared result (S20, S22, S23) thereby to control wind direction of the discharged air. Thus, the wind direction of the air discharged at the ratio of the times when a user exists in the areas of an indoor space is varied by the method for controlling the wind direction of the conditioner. In this manner, decrease in air conditioning performance and power consumption die to discharge of cold air to the air are prevented to conduct an efficient air conditioning operation.
