Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new sulfur-containing epoxy compound, capable of providing a resin, having a high refractive index and a low dispersion, excellent in impact resistance and useful as a resin raw material for plastic lenses. SOLUTION: This 4,7,10-trithiano-1,12-n-tridecadiene oxide is represented by formula I. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by reacting (A) a bismercaptoethyl sulfide with (B) a compound represented by formula II (X is Br or Cl) in the presence of (D) an inorganic base in (C) a solvent inert to both the components A and B. For example, a polymerization catalyst is added and mixed with the compound represented by formula I or further a curing agent and the defoaming treatment of the resultant mixture is carried out. The defoamed mixture can then be injected into a mold and polymerized at 25-170 deg.C temperature to afford a sulfur-containing epoxy resin molding product suitable as eyeglass lenses, camera lenses, etc. |
