Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser-assisted milling method which can be easily used, and which is capable of effectively reducing the mechanical characteristics of raw material of a workpiece to be cut. SOLUTION: In this method, during the period of milling a workpiece 1, at least one laser beam is directed onto the workpiece immediately on the upstream side of a milling cutter in order that at least one region of the workpiece parallel to a specified milled shape is heated, and then the laser beam is moved at the same speed Vf as the feed speed of the milling cutter on the workpiece in state where the laser beam is put on the longitudinal axis of the workpiece. In this case, the first and/or the second critical regions (12, 13) immediately on the upstream sides of an entering point and an escape point of the cutting edge of the milling cutter, in the workpiece, can be the regions to be heated.
