Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact inexpensive camera easy to hold at the time of executing photographing, without spoiling portability. SOLUTION: A camera main body 10 is provided with a slide case 12 being freely slidable among a nonuse position for covering a photographic lens 3, etc., a photographing position for exposing the photographic lens 3, etc., a battery exchange position capable of exchanging a battery 14 and a cartridge exchange position capable of exchanging a film cartridge 16. When the slide case 12 is at the photographing position, the slide case 12 is used as a grip for holding the camera 2. Further, only when the slide case 12 is at the cartridge exchange position, the opening of the bottom cover 57 of a cartridge chamber 24 is permitted. Thus, a locking mechanism for the bottom cover 57 is dispensed with.
