REAR BODY STRUCTURE FOR AUTOMOBILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To largely form a back door opening and secure strength by improving the rear body structure of a high-roof specification vehicle formed with drip channels on the lower end edges of a roof panel. SOLUTION: Drip channels 11 are formed on the right and left lower end edges of a roof panel 1 except for the rear end sections covering the upper sections of quarter pillars 3, an extension 4 having nearly the same cross sectional shape as that of each quarter pillar 3 and extended upward is connected to the upper end of the quarter pillar 3, and the upper end is connected to a back door opening upper corner 5. The rear end section of the roof panel 1 is extended to the outside than the front section having the drip channels 11 by the quantity corresponding to the widths of the drip channels 11 to cover the extensions 4. The cross section of the extensions 4 is increased, the strength is increased, and the opening of the back door is largely secured.
