Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost by eliminating upper/lower non-picture parts in the vertical direction and overscanning parts in the horizontal direction from a range to be written in a storage means so as to reduce the capacity of the storage means without giving adverse effect onto the image quality. SOLUTION: A chrominance signal C+HH' separated from a composite video signal by a 3-dimension Y/C separator 3 in an EDTV-II receiver is given to a video signal processing circuit 27, in which subtraction processing is conducted with a signal delayed in a field memory and signals C and HH' are separated. In the processing of the field memory, only a data range of a major image part of a letter box obtained by eliminating upper/lower non- picture parts from the valid pattern range in the vertical direction is written in the memory and only the valid pattern area obtained by eliminating left/right overscanning parts in the horizontal direction is written in the memory. Thus, the memory capacity required for the video processing circuit is reduced by 1Mbit or over, then the required memory capacity is halved to reduce the cost of the receiver of the EDTV-II system. |
