Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a load to actually act at the tip of a penetrating rod, and to correct this load to an accurate load. SOLUTION: A loading base 3 which can load a fixed weight of a dead weight is provided elevatably along a column, and composed so as to lower under a dead load, and the loading base 3 is provided with a chuck for holding a penetrating rod 7 so that it may be rotated by the driving of a rotary driving source, and also provided with a powder brake to generate fixed braking power according to the quantity of applied current. The lowering speed of the loading base 3 is altered by the powder brake to vary the load acting on the penetrating rod 7. In addition, the chuck 8 is provide with a strain detecting means 11 for detecting a strain due to the load acting at the tip of the penetrating rod 7, and a control device compares the output value of the strain detecting means 11 with the reference value of the strain detecting means 11 being to be outputted by a fixed load to correct the quantity of applied current toward the powder brake.
