HAIR GROWING COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition excellent in hair growing effect. SOLUTION: This hair growing composition is obtained by blending 0.001-10% minoxidil with an extract of Jatova (a leguminous plant, Hymenaea courbaril) and/or an extract of Betula in an amount of 0.001-10% expressed in terms of dried solid material. The minoxidil has a chemical name of 2,4-diamino-6- piperidinopyrimidine-3-oxide and is commercialized as an agent for treating hypertension and hirsutism phenomenon is known as adverse effect of minoxidil. Jatova is Hymenaea courbaril which is a leguminous plant grown in Brazil and Betula is Betula alnoides which is a betulaceous plant grown in Thailand. These crude medicines are each used by extracting these plants with an aqueous or organic solvent (e.g. ethanol). These crude medicines are each blended with a base such as lotion, tonic, cream, ointment or aerosol and the resultant preparation is used by applying to scalp once or several times daily.
