Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively discharge harmful intestinal bacteria causing food poisoning from the body without diminishing the appetite of cattle or poultry by applying mannan and/or cell wall originated from microorganism to the cattle or poultry. SOLUTION: Mannan and/or cell wall originated from a microorganism (preferably yeast) are applied to cattle or poultry (preferably chicken). The cell wall is prepared in a form containing 10% mannan by heating a suspension of microorganism in a weakly acidic aqueous solution. A crude mannan having a mannan content of 20% is produced by treating the cell wall with a cell wall digesting enzyme to remove glucan or a purified mannan having a molecular weight of 2,000,000 is produced by dissolving the cell wall in a hot alkali, removing insoluble components, cooling the dissolved fraction and washing the produced precipitate. The mannan and/or the cell wall are administered to the cattle, etc., preferably by compounding 0.001-10wt.% of the mannan, etc., to feed. |
