PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a position, to which attention should be paied in the case of editing processing, in such display form that a user can accurately discrimi nate this position at the time when the user confirms editing contents. SOLUTION: A character input means 6 which inputs a document or an editing command, a circumstantial information input means 9 which takes in circumstance information for character input, a clock 4 which give a time to the inputted character or command and circumstantial information, a counter 8 which gives a unique number to the inputted character or command, a discrete value input controller 7 which reads in discrete value information of circumstantial information and combines the character or the command, the time, and the number with this discrete value information, a rule storage device 13 which preliminarily prescribes display methods correspondingly to discrete value information, a pattern detector 12 which detects a specific pattern from discrete value information and designates a display form in accordance with the display method stored in the rule storage device 13, and a display device 10 which displays editing information in the designated display form are provided.
