CARD READER WRITER AND CARD SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To periodically and securely clean a magnetic head and a print head. CONSTITUTION: The card reader writer 100 equipped with one or both of the magnetic head 61 and print head 62 is equipped with a card insertion detection sensor 1, a counting part 2 which counts and stores the number of inserted cards with the signal of the card insertion detection sensor 1, a prescribed value storage part 3 which stores the card insertion number indicating the need for head cleaning as a prescribed value, and a decision part 4 which compares the card insertion number with the prescribed value and indicates that the prescribed value is exceeded, thereby urging the head to be cleaned when the specific process number is reached. When the prescribed value is exceeded, a card which is already inserted is ejected without normal processing to urge the head to be cleaned or the head is urged to be cleaned after the normal processing. After the cleaning, the card insertion number of the count part 2 is reset.
