TABLE PREPARATION DEVICE AND METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a table preparation device such as an electronic composition device, a table top publishing system, etc., which can easily prepare a table with high working efficiency and high quality by using a function to write the data into every character frame and to calculate the sizes and numbers of necessary character frames for composition of the table. SOLUTION: A reading means 1 reads the character string data which are written into the character frames of a table. A table composition means 2 writes the character string data into the character frames and calculates the vertical and horizontal sizes of characters necessary for writing the data and also calculates the numbers of character frames in both row and column directions. Then the means 2 composes a table. A calculation means 3 calculates the total of vertical and horizontal sizes of composed character frames and compares the size of an entire table set by a setting means 4 with the total character frame sizes calculated from the character string data which are actually read. Then a table composition means 2 composes again a table based on the processing contents of a character arrangement means 6, a connection/ omission means 7, a compression means 8, a size adjustment means 9 and a rule generation means 10 respectively.
