Zusammenfassung:Prepn. of 3-aminomethyl-3,5,5-tri- methylcyclohexylamine (I) comprises reacting 3-cyano-3,5,5-tri- methylcyclohexanone (II) with (I) and subsequently or simultaneously adding ammonia under a H2 pressure of 50-300 bar in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at a temp. of 20-150 degrees C, and carrying out the reaction without removing the water of reaction formed. Pref. the mol. ratio (II):(I)=0.5:1 to 5:1 and the wt. ratio ammonia:(II)=0.1:1 to 10:1. The hydrogenation catalyst pref. contains at least one element chosen from Cu or an element of gp. VIII, esp. Raney-Co, Raney-Ni, Co or Co-carrier catalysts. The reaction is pref. carried out essentially in the absence of a solvent.
