PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL CABLE AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCTION THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an optical cable under application of a slack to an optical fiber cable while saving space. SOLUTION: After the optical fiber cable 2 and a tension member 4 are delivered, the optical fiber cable 2 and the tension member 4 are integrated by a polyethylene extruder 8 in the state of applying tension on the tension member 4 by a brake 5 and keeping the cable and the member heated by a heater 6. The optical cable 10 formed in such a manner is taken up by a capstan constituted by having engaging grooves to be engaged with the optical cable in its cylindrical part and therefore, the cable is taken up by a take-up drum.
