Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new galanin receptor protein which has a specific amino acid sequence and is useful as a preventive or therapeutic agent for gastric ulcer as a galanin receptor agonist or in the development of a preventive or therapeutic agent for diabetes and Alzheimer's disease as an antagonist. SOLUTION: This new galanin receptor protein or its salt includes the same amino acid sequence as those represented by formulas I, II or III. It is useful for screening galanin receptor antagnists which inhibits the action of galanin to inhibit the liberation of neurotransmitter and to suppress the insulin secretion and in screening agonists which promote the actions of galanin thereby enabling the development of a preventive or therapeutic agent for diabetes, Alzheimer's syndrome, dementia or an insulin secretion accelerator as an antagonist and the development of a preventive or therapeutic agent for schizophrenia, gastric ulcer or a suppresser for insulin secretion as an agonist. This protein is prepared by culturing CHO cells transformed by the gene recombinant technology.
