Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce thermal stress caused by temperature gradient which generates in the early period of exhaust gas inflow in the radial direction of a honeycomb body in particular and to prevent breakage of a reinforcement joining part by brazing a metallic flat foil and a corrugated foil in the several layers of the outer periphery of the honeycomb body to form reinforcement parts, reinforcing and joining the remainder. SOLUTION: In the outer peripheral face of a honeycomb body 7 and the internal circumferential face side of a metallic outer cylinder 8, the joining part 13 of a metallic corrugated foil 4 and a metallic flat foil 5 is brazed by joining material 11 to form a current path 12. A reinforcement joining part 14 is joined while keeping insulation. Further, in the outer peripheral part of the honeycomb body 7, the interval between the metallic corrugated foil 4 and the metallic flat foil 5 is extensively joined by brazing material 17 in the several layers to form a reinforcement part 16. Therefore, strength larger than thermal stress caused in the outer peripheral part of the honeycomb body 7 is secured in the reinforcement part 16. Breakdown of the reinforcement joining part 14 in the current path region is prevented and the structural durability of an electric heating type metallic catalytic carrier is increased.
