Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an inverter against breakdown caused by overcurrent exceeding the maximum rated current. SOLUTION: A current detector 5 detects the phase currents of an induction motor IM and determines the maximum values which are outputted to first through third comparators 7-9. The first through third comparators 7-9 compare the maximum values with first through third set reference levels and output detection signals when the set reference levels are exceeded. The first comparator 7 delivers a detection signal to an inverter 1 which then turns a switching element off to interrupt the PWM operation. Consequently, the current flowing through the induction motor IM is reduced thus protecting the inverter against breakdown caused by overcurrent. |
