CONSTITUTION: The natural ground is excavated by a shield machine 10. Segments 14 are assembled in the tail section 20 of the shield machine 10. A high-strength filler 26 is extruded and placed in the region 28 between the outer face of the assembled segments 14 and the natural ground via a placing jack 30 concurrently with the advance of the shield machine 10.
