Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of difference in luminance among divided regions by dividing at least one of the scanning electrode group, maintenance electrode group and data electrode group into plural sets and impressing pulse trains for discharge control on the respective sets independently. SOLUTION: At least one of the scanning electrode groups, maintenance electrode groups and data electrode groups is divided into plural sets, and the discharge controlling pulses to be impressed on the divided electrode, such as priming pulses, scanning pulses, data pulses and erase pulses are impressed on the respective sets independently to control the discharge In the conditions optimum to the respective sets. in the present embodiment, the scanning electrodes 3 and the data electrodes 5 are divided into respective two sets and scanning drivers 16a, 16b and data drivers 14a, 14b corresponding to the respective sets are installed. And the respective sets are connected to independent scanning power sources 21a, 21b and data power sources 19a, 19b. In addition, a maintenance driver 15, a scanning driver 16a, 16b are connected to a priming power source 22. Accordingly the displayed data is scanned and written using the voltage value optimum to the divided region.
