Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance of a valve opening closing characteristic control device. SOLUTION: A cam cap 18 securely fastened against a cylinder head is integrally formed, a cam shaft 12 on the intake side and a cam shaft 13 on the exhaust side are rotatably supported between the cylinder head 11 and the cam cap 18. An oil pressure control valve 28 is contained in the cam cap 18. A spool is disposed right above the cam shaft 12 on the intake side and in a direction crossing the cam shaft 12 on the intake side at right angles. An oil pressure passage 29 connected to the oil pressure control valve 28 is disposed along an oil pressure control valve 28. An introduction port 291 to which a feed oil pipe is connected is arranged approximately in the same level as that of the oil pressure control valve 28.
