SOIL CONDITIONER USING GRANULATED COAL ASH AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recycle coal ash for more effective utilization and provide an excellent soil conditioner for swamp farmlands and for ill-drained crop fields and a granulated coal ash which can be used in this soil conditioner. SOLUTION: This soil conditioner is prepared by mixing a granulated coal ash with a particle size of 1-5mm with powdery coal ash at a weight ratio of (1-3)/3. The powdery coal ash from a fluid bed type boiler is mixed with water so as to form a slurry of 30-40wt.% water content, and they are mixed, as they are slowly stirred, until the powder is wholly and uniformly soaked with water. Then, the formed lumps are fired at 800-1,300 deg.C to give granules of coal ash with particle sizes of about 5mm and the granulated coal ash is used as a soil conditioner.
