Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound copolymerizable with another ethylenic monomer, and useful as a raw material for synthesizing polymers each having such structure that mercapto group is branched from the molecular chain. SOLUTION: This new compound is an acylthio group-bearing (meth)acrylic ester of formula I (R is H or methyl; R is an alkyl; X1 is a divalent hydrocarbon) (e.g. pref. 2-acetylthioethyl (meth)acrylate). A second version of this compound is an acylthio group-bearing vinyl ketone of formula II (R is an alkyl; X is a divalent hydrocarbon)(e.g. 2-acetylthioethyl vinyl ketone). A third version of this new compound is an acylthio group-bearing vinyl ester of formula III (R is an alkyl; X is a divalent hydrocarbon) (e.g. pref. vinyl (acetylthio)acetate). Each of these new compounds can be used as a monomer for homopolymers or copolymers.
