LUBRICANT COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition containing an imidazolinium betaine as an essential component, excellent in lubricity and dilution stability, not generating precipitates, even when mixed with a beverage, and thereby useful for chain conveyors, etc., for carrying bottles, pet bottles, etc., in liquid food industries. SOLUTION: This lubricant composition contains (A) an imidazolinium betaine, such as a compound of formula I [R is a 8-22C (un)saturated linear alkyl or linear alkenyl; (n) is 1, 2] or a compound of formula II (concretely, e.g. 2-lauryl-N-carboxymethyl-N-hydroxyethylimidazolinium betaine), as an essential component. The composition preferably contains the component A in an amount of 5-45wt.%. The component A is obtained e.g. by reacting an alkylimidazoline with monochloroacetic acid or monochloropropionic acid.
