Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large capacity flexible disk and its format method capable of accurately reading a written number. SOLUTION: Each sector consists of a servo area and a data area 30. The servo area of each sector is provided with a preamble field 21, a number field (22), an STM field 23, first-fourth burst fields 24-1 to 24-4, a pad field 25 and a post servo pad field 26. The number field (22) consists of a sector number field 22-1 and a track number field 22-2. A sector number is written in the sector number field 22-1 as a binary code by using a phase modulation system. A track number is written in the track number field 22-2 as a gray code by using the phase modulation system.
