NEW PYRIMIDINE COMPOUND AND ANTIROTAVIRUS AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new pyrimidine compound, having excellent antirotavirus activities and useful as a preventing or a therapeutic agent for diseases such as diarrhea caused by infection with rotaviruses, especially infantile diarrhea, emesis or dehydration. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I R1 is H, a 1-4C alkyl, a halogen, OH, NH2 , etc.; R2 is H, NH2 or NHCOCH3 ; R3 is a group represented by the formula NR5(CH2 )i -CH2 OH [R5 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; (i) is 1-4]; R4 is H, a halogen, NH2 , CN, formyl, etc.} or its salt, e.g. 2-amino-6- chloro-4-[(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]pyrimidine. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by reacting a compound represented by formula II with a compound represented by formula III in the presence of a base as a deacidifying agent.
