COSMETIC CONTAINING ENKA-EXTRACT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a cosmetic, useful for beautifying and face beautification and free from toxicity against the skin by compounding an essence obtained by extracting a specific material to be used as a raw material of a Chinese medicine or a food material of a Chinese dish with water as an active component. SOLUTION: ENKA(a kind of an edible bird's nest) is finely cut, and the resultant pieces of ENKA is extracted with water at a temperature ranging from the ambient temperature to about 120 deg.C. Water is removed from the extract to obtain ENKA extract, which is used as an active component. The ENKA extract is crystalline powder or powder of white to yellowish white to blown, and contains saccharides, proteins and further acyl acids. The cosmetic is excellent in safety and can be easily compounded in a cream, a milky lotion, a lip stick, an eye shadow, a shampoo, a hair rinse, etc. A compounding ratio of the ENKA extract is preferably about 0.05-10wt.%.
