Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the dependency on visual angles and to enhance a display grade by forming a simple type dot matrix type liquid crystal panel of a flexible base material. SOLUTION: Phase polarized lights plates 2, 3 compensate a polarization state and allow the passage of a linearly polarized light component. A liquid crystal layer 4 is STN type liquid crystals having about 150 to 300 deg. twist angle. Plural electrode layers 5, 6 holding the liquid crystal layer 4 have striped patterns intersecting orthogonally with each other and impress voltage on the pixel parts of the liquid crystal layer 4 arranged in a matrix form. The liquid crystal panel 1 formed by using glass substrates 7, 8 of about 0.5mm thickness as the base material deflects easily when its size is as large as >=30cm. When the panel is mounted at a notebook PC, etc., the visual angle θ1 when the upper part is viewed is made smaller and the display free from reversal in black and white is obtd. by supporting and fixing the panel by curving the panel in a vertical direction. The visual angle θ2 is made small as well even when the lower power is viewed. The good display having the small degree of whitening of the black display is thus obtd.
