Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject ink containing a water-soluble dye expressed by a specific formula, having good ink jet recording suitability, free from a smell and the danger of ignition, sufficient in the concentrations of recorded images and having good bleeding resistance. SOLUTION: This ink for ink jets comprises (A) 4.2-5.3wt.% of a water-soluble dye comprising a compound of the formula (R is an alkyl) or its derivative, (B) 4.0-10.0wt.% of propylene glycol monomethyl ether, and water. The ink preferably comprises 4.2-5.3wt.% of the component A, 72.7-91.8wt.% of pure water, 4.0-10.0wt.% of the component B, 0-5.0wt.% of diethylene glycol, 0-5.0wt.% of ethyl alcohol and 0-2.0wt.% of propylene glycol monobutyl ether.
